Beth Walls –Chairperson

Beth is the General Manager for Logan’s Group of Companies, a family business established in the Battlefords in 1988 which now operates three of its four businesses within the Downtown North Battleford district.  A member of the Downtown North Battleford BID board since its inception in March of 2013, Beth previously volunteered with other non-profit organizations including Kelowna YMCA-YWCA, Downtown Kelowna Association and Junior Achievers BC.  Her passion for an active and lively downtown is what attracted Beth to the organization and she looks forward to both the business and community growth that will come from having a BID. 

 

Rhonda Kauth – Director

Rhonda was born and raised on a farm north of North Battleford.  She and her husband Brent own Lifetime Fitness in Downtown North Battleford.  Rhonda became involved with the North Battleford BID because she understands the importance of a prosperous city centre 

Rhonda remembers a time when downtown was a wonderful place to be.  She has also witnessed the problems and watched it slowly become a location of decreased foot traffic with a poor reputation.  She has worked closely with the board to educate herself on other cities who were faced with similar problems and how they overcame them.

“My family and I plan to live in North Battleford and support our local businesses for many years to come.  I want my children to be proud of where they grew up and went to school.”

Kathy came to North Battleford 33 years ago with her husband and two children.  She and her husband Jim ran a trucking business for 25 years.  She was the parish administrator for St. Paul’s Anglican Church for 23 years, retiring in December of 2011.  Kathy has worked with her business partner, Sharon Mohagen, for many years before officially joining her in the Blue Rentals storefront in Downtown North Battleford.  She is involved in her church, a member of the Laureatte Kappa Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi and Communities in Bloom.  Kathy and Jim have two grown children, Sabrina and Owen as well as three grandsons, Nicholas, Chayce and Jaxson.

Thomas is new to North Battleford and the current manager of the North Battleford RBC Royal Bank.  After six years of gaining diverse experience with RBC, including living in the northern communities of Norway House and Cross Lake, and the two years in Melfort, SK, Thomas and his wife Melissa (a goldsmith and studying to become an optometric assistant) and their 16 month old son Angus are almost settled in North Battleford.

Thomas has been an active volunteer his whole life.  He was the secretary for the Melfort Kinsmen and was on the board for the Melfort and District Chamber of Commerce.  He has a passion for community development and has a strong recognition about the importance of community aesthetics and the connection it has to promoting business traffic and out of town visitors.

Debbie Stewart, resident of North Battleford since 2011.  Moved from Calgary to care for my aging parents and bought a home in North Battleford. My daughters and families have recently purchased homes in North Battlefo

rd and area; making North Battleford my permanent home.  My work experiences are in Downtown North Battleford has so much to offer and many hidden treasures.  I hope that all residents bring tourism, business management, project accounting, and revitalization of core business areas. I joined the Battleford Improvement District Board of Directors (BID) to offer my experience in business revitalization, event planning and to support the owners of several businesses and property in North Battleford.  Currently I’m employed by Pfiefer Holdings Ltd, o/a Travelodge and Tropical inn in North Battleford and several other downtown business interests.  My goal is to encourage future and current business owners to work in partnerships to develop a vibrant, friendly and safe community. To create opportunities for business owners to share in development of events that promote, enhance and encourage customers to visit and shop downtown.

Rebecca returned to the Battlefords in 2011 after having been gone for 10 years. The small town feeling and knowing people in the community in which she lived was a large part of why she chose to come back. Rebecca currently works for TD Canada Trust bank and has been very interested in taking part in the revitalization of the downtown, which is what attracted her to the BID in the first place. She currently also sits on the Battlefords United Way board as well, and enjoys volunteering her time to various fundraising events in the Battlefords. Rebecca looks forward to the continuous positive changes downtown and in the community in general.

Chad lives in North Battleford with his wife and two children.  He has called North Battleford home since 1987.  Chad became involved with the BID committee through his role at Innovation Credit Union as Regional Vice President because of his want to support our business community and revitalize our downtown core.

“I remember when I first moved here in 1987 how busy downtown was and the wonderful stores and services that were there.”  Chad wants to help bring that back for our residents and visitors to the Battlefords.


 

Greg Lightfoot - DirectorGreg Lightfoot

Greg has lived in the Battlefords for 25 years with his wife Brenda and have raised both of their children here.  Greg sits on the BID board as a City Council representative.

Outside of his role as a City Councilor, Greg owns and operates Hein Financial Group with over 21 years of experience in the financial services industry.

Greg has been an active community member through Battlefords Chamber of Commerce, Kinsmen, Northstars Hockey Club, United Way, Cancer Society Relay for Life, Telemiracle, Ducks Unlimited Dinner Committee and Battleford’s Trailbreakers and is currently the VIce President of Catholic Family Services of the Battlefords.

"As a citizen, business owner, father and husband I feel that North Battleford has the potential to become a stronger and more prosperous community. With a dynamic and focused City Council, our community goals will be reached. Together, we can make North Battleford a more beautiful, successful and welcoming city."
